Arrival : My Review

Arrival is an experience, rather than a science fiction marvel. We have seen lots of Alien based movies in Hollywood but Arrival stands out due to its fantastic direction by Denis Villenueve. He has helmed this movie with presicion thanks to the sharp editing by Joe Walker and a functional BGM by Johan Johansson. Screenplay by Eric Heisserer is exceptional as there is a good message for the viewers while the narration adds to the beauty of the movie.

Arrival tells the story of an alien visit to the earth in huge pods and the plot reveals the reason of their visit and some other shocking revelations. It is based on the book "Story of your life"  by Ted Chiang.

Arrival stars Amy Adams as a linguist and she does full justice to her role while Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker are good in their roles.

The movie is a must watch for its refreshing content and way of story telling which is intense.

Pete's Dragon : My Review

Pete's Dragon is a heart warming Fantasy Adventure movie which tells the story of friendship between a green dragon and a boy.
This Disney movie is a remake of the 1977 musical film of the same name. David Lowery has directed this movie very well and this movie is a feel good fantasy !! Screenplay by Tony Halbrooks is good and the exquisite direction makes the movie engaging. The Music by Daniel Hart provides a very good backdrop for the movie.
Oakes Fegley is brilliant as Pete while Bryce Dallas Howard, Karl Urban and Robert Redford are good in their roles.
If there is a fantasy movie you shouldn't miss then that is definitely Pete's Dragon and that's because this movie has a heart. It has lots to offer : The  deforestation which happens around the globe and how vicious humans trample the nature.
A must watch movie for all movie fans !!

Oppam : My Review

Oppam tells the story of a blind man who is framed for a murder and how he finds the real culprit.
Touted as a thriller, Oppam delivers more than what we expect. The making is absolutely fantastic while the story is genuine and well written. Screenplay by Priyadarshan is excellent and succeeds in engaging the audience.
Priyadarshan - Mohanlal combination has done wonders in the past and this time they have joined to deliver an incredible thriller. Mohanlal as Jayaraman  delivers a memorable performance,  one of the best in his career. Priyadarshan has directed the movie with such finesse that the movie looks appealing to all types of audiences.
The Music works well for the movie and songs come at the right places. Cinematography by N. K. Ekhambaram is praiseworthy and makes the movie look stylish.
Oppam is a must watch and is one of the best movies of the decade.

The Theory of Everything : My Review

PROS :
The Incredible Performances
The Narration
The Mesmerizing work by Arts Department

The Theory of Everything is a biographical drama based on the book by Jane Wilde Hawking - Travelling to Infinity : My Life With Stephen. Eddie Redmayne just mesmerizes us in the role of Stephen Hawking. His acting entirely engages us while the narration is simply flawless.
Director James Marsh has done a terrific job in detailing each scene and has done justice to the script by Anthony McCarten. The performances of Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones were just outstanding, especially Eddie Redmayne who deserves the Oscar he won for the movie.
The movie is undoubtedly a masterpiece and focuses on how Stephen Hawking falls prey to the motor-neuron disease, his relationship with his wife Jane and also other significant events in his life.
The Art Direction and Make-up Department has done a marvellous job for this movie which has given brilliant results on the silver screen.

Doctor Strange : My Review

PROS :
Exquisite Kaleidoscopic Illusions in IMAX
A brilliant start to a great series
Casting is just Perfecto.
CONS :
Gives the feel of an abrupt end.
More action sequences might have worked well.
First things First.
Doctor Strange is a fantastic visual phenomenon. Watch it in IMAX or don't watch(Believe me on this !!). With a normal duration of IMAX footage and an above average screenplay, the movie never fails to amaze during its entire runtime, thanks to the mind blowing visuals.
Scott Derrikson has made an engaging marvel movie with some terrific visual effects. Benedict Cumberbatch delivers a solid performance while Mads Mikkelsen proves that he can be a menacing villain. Tilda Swinton surprises in a new avatar and she is good in her role.
The story is good and has immense possibilities of action sequences which the director should have utilised, still the movie offers a couple of good action sequences which are visually stunning.
Do not forget to watch the 2 post credit scenes which seems crucial in the series.
Spend some bucks and experience it in IMAX this November !!
