The Great Father : My Review

Pros :
Story
Some Dialogues !!
Mammootty in a never-seen-before stylish avatar

Cons :
Direction
Performances from the cast
Some Dialogues !!
Character BGMs which interferes with the  mood of the film
Average Songs

The Great Father is a movie based on a paedophilic serial killer on the loose. The movie has a good storyline which is dampened by some mundane direction by Haneef Adeni. The story of the movie which is also penned by the director is based on a very sensitive issue, which should have been handled more seriously. The movie also suffers due to the underwhelming performances from the cast especially Anikha. Mammootty and Arya essayed their parts decently and both of them looked stunning throughout the course of the movie.
The Cinematography is good in parts and although the movie looks stylish some camera placements were weird. The BGM was functional but the logic of turning it on every time, when a character enters, was absolutely absurd. The movie had huge scope of improvement in direction and also the narration.
Overall The Great Father is a one time watch, if you have no other movie to watch over the weekend.
P.S : The Dark Knight fans will be in for a huge embarrassment.

My Rating : 2.5/5

Take Off : My Review

Pros:
Incredible Performances
Terrific Direction
Cinematography

Cons :
Literally None.

Take Off is an incredible true story based on the 2014 Iraq Terrorist attacks. Parvathy, Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil and Asif Ali play their roles well and the apposite casting gives a good appeal to the movie. The BGM is quite functional and it goes well with the mood of the film. Mahesh Narayan has directed this movie with such expertise that it feels like we aren't watching a conventional Malayalam movie. The backdrop of the story, the fine performances and the terrific narrative are  the key factors which makes this movie, a brilliant one.
The script by Mahesh Narayan and P. V. Shajikumar is engrossing and builds the interest of the audience. Cinematography is another highlight of the movie and the frames of Sanu John Varghese are captivating. Overall, Take off is one Malayalam movie you must watch at all cost. This movie is a great tribute to Rajesh Pillai whose unfortunate and untimely demise was a great blow to Malayalam film industry.

My Rating : 5/5
